چکیده

In contrast to the classical location-allocation models, the location-routing problem (LRP) integrates vehicle routing and scheduling aspects in the location planning process. A survey and classification scheme of location-routing is e.g. proposed by [3] and [2]. This paper presents a LRP of a company which distributes finished cars. This LRP is decomposed into two steps. In the first step a set of candidate depots is determined by minimizing the sum of the radial distances between depots and customers. Based on the locations found in the first step the vehicle routing problem is used to select the depot with the most attractive location in the second step. This paper is organized as follows. In the following the problem is discussed followed by a solution approach in Section 2. The computational results are presented in Section 3. Finally, the main conclusions of the study are drawn in Section 4. The core business of the considered company is the transportation of finished vehicles from automotive factories to car dealers in different regions of Germany. The company’s distribution network is structured as a Hub&Spoke network with each hub serving the customers within a defined region. This paper focuses on the interregional transportation of cars which will be necessary if a car dealer from one region demands cars of the type which are produces by an automotive factory in the second region. In the current situation interregional transports have to pass both terminals (see Fig. 1(1)). Hence, this interregional transportation proceeding goes along with unnecessary expense, especially if there exists an unbalanced demand between the observed regions. Due to this imbalance the capacity of trucks returning from the one region to the other region is lower at large and leads to a low degree of capacity utilization. Furthermore this proceeding goes along with negative effects for the truck drivers since they are not able to return to their initial point on the

Reliable location routing problem considers a location problem and a vehicle routing problem in order to select the optimal location of facilities and at the same time the optimal routes for vehicles considering the unexpected failure for facilities in which, all facilities may fail with a probability. In this paper, a bi-objective mathematical model has been developed to minimize the total cos...

Designing a green location routing inventory problem considering transportation risks and time window: a case study

This study introduces a green location, routing and inventory problem with customer satisfaction, backup distribution centers and risk of routes in the form of a non-linear mixed integer programming model. In this regard, time window is considered to increase the customer satisfaction of the model and transportation risks is taken into account for the reliability of the system. In addition, dif...

A Customized Bi-Objective Location-Routing Problem for Locating Post Offices and Delivery of Post Parcels

One of the most important problems for distribution companies is to find the best locations for depots and to find proper routes for transportation vehicles and to optimize supply network. This study intends to develop a model for the problem of location-routing in post offices. So, a new Bi-Objective Location-Routing Problem for Locating Town Post Office and Routing Parcels is defined. This pr...

Comparison between Combined and Separate Approaches for Solving a Location-Routing Problem in Hazardous Materials Transportation

In the case of hazardous materials management, selected routes for carrying hazardous materials (i.e., hazmat) have significant effects on locating hazmat distribution centers. Since, risk and cost are usually considered as two main attributes to determine the best routes, optimized locations are sequentially outlined depending on selected routes. In the present paper, t...

A green transportation location-inventory-routing problem by dynamic regional pricing

Non-uniform distribution of customers in a region and variation of their maximum willingness to pay at distinct areas make regional pricing a practical method to maximize the profit of the distribution system. By subtracting the classic objective function, which minimizes operational costs from revenue function, profit maximization is aimed. A distribution network is designed by determining the...

A Comparison of Four Multi-Objective Meta-Heuristics for a Capacitated Location-Routing Problem

In this paper, we study an integrated logistic system where the optimal location of depots and vehicles routing are considered simultaneously. This paper presents a new mathematical model for a multi-objective capacitated location-routing problem with a new set of objectives consisting of the summation of economic costs, summation of social risks and demand satisfaction score. A new multi-objec...
